Postdoc Aircraft Noise Computations from Installed Propeller-Fuselage Interaction

About the role

We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Industrial Microbiology section of the Department of Biotechnology at TU Delft. The project, co‑supervised by Prof. Jack Pronk and Prof. Jean‑Marc Daran, is carried out in close collaboration with a leading biotechnology company and focuses on the molecular basis of robustness in an industrial yeast production process.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms that confer robustness to industrial yeast strains.
• Design and execute genome‑editing experiments to generate improved strains.
• Perform quantitative physiological studies in laboratory‑scale bioreactors.
• Integrate experimental data with computational models to guide strain engineering.
• Collaborate closely with academic and industrial partners and present findings in meetings and publications.

Required profile

• PhD in molecular biology, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, cell biology or a related discipline.
• Strong hands‑on experience with molecular biology, genetics and genome‑editing techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and develop innovative experimental approaches.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Motivation to work on research with direct industrial relevance and to contribute to an inclusive research environment.
