Postdoctoral Researcher – Resilient & Circular Building Strategies

About the role

The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to join the Horizon Europe AURORA project. Working under the supervision of Assistant Professors Simona Bianchi and Olga Ioannou and Associate Professor Maria Pregnolato, you will help shape digital decision‑support tools for climate‑resilient and circular building practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and classify existing construction products, product systems and building configurations according to the AURORA assessment framework.
• Develop structured data models that enable seamless exchange and integration of product and building information.
• Create a user‑friendly digital interface that supports stakeholders in selecting circular and resilient renovation pathways.
• Test and validate the digital workflows through pilot applications across diverse building typologies, scales and data availability conditions.
• Collaborate with research groups in Structures and Materials, Building Design & Technology, and Hydraulic Structures and Flood Risk.

Required profile

• Postdoctoral researcher position under the supervision of faculty members of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.

Required skills

• Experience in assessing integrated construction and renovation strategies.
• Ability to translate assessed technologies into parametric datasets and structured databases.
• Competence in developing intuitive digital interfaces for decision‑making.
