Postdoctoral Researcher – Whole Life Cycle Decision‑Support for Climate‑Responsive Buildings

About the role

The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft is seeking a post‑doctoral researcher to lead the development of a Whole Life Cycle (WLC) decision‑support framework for climate‑responsive buildings and in‑between spaces. The work is part of the Horizon Europe WEAVE project.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement an innovative WLC framework that integrates environmental, circularity, economic, social and resilience indicators.
• Identify, classify and evaluate archetypes of in‑between spaces (balconies, loggias, atria, etc.) and assess their performance and adaptability.
• Validate methodologies through demonstrators across multiple European countries in collaboration with architects, engineers, municipalities and industry partners.
• Contribute to the creation of digital decision‑support tools and practical design methods.
• Support the research group’s activities, including editorial assistance, project acquisition and conference organisation.

Required profile

• PhD in Architecture, Engineering, Built Environment or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research background in sustainable building design, life‑cycle assessment or circular construction.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary, multi‑partner projects, preferably within Horizon Europe programmes.
