Press Officer – Science Communications

About the role

We are looking for a Press Officer to join the Lancet Group’s communications team in Amsterdam. The role offers an early‑career professional the chance to develop media‑relations expertise within a leading international scientific publishing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify news‑worthy research across 30 Lancet journals, craft press releases and media summaries, and pitch stories to relevant journalists.
• Manage the press‑release distribution platform and media database, produce coverage reports and analysis.
• Monitor the press office inbox, respond promptly to media enquiries, and support external communications teams with their media plans.
• Spot reputational risks in contentious papers and propose proactive communication solutions.

Required profile

• Interest or experience in communications, public or media relations, preferably with a background in health, science or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly organised and able to juggle multiple deadlines.
• Team‑player with a collaborative approach, ready to work in a small, supportive, global team.

What we offer

• Base salary range €49,000 – €81,700 per year.
