Press Officer – Scientific Communications

About the role

We are seeking a Press Officer to join the Lancet Group’s communications team in Amsterdam. The role focuses on translating cutting‑edge health research into compelling media stories and safeguarding the group’s reputation across a portfolio of 30 journals.

Key responsibilities

• Identify news‑worthy research, craft press releases and media summaries, and pitch stories to relevant journalists.
• Manage the press release distribution platform and media database, providing regular coverage reports and analysis.
• Monitor the Press Office inbox, respond promptly to journalist enquiries, and support external communications teams with media plans.
• Spot reputational risks in contentious papers and propose proactive communication solutions.

Required profile

• Interest or experience in communications, public relations or media relations, preferably with a background in health or science.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and strong organisational abilities.
• Team‑player attitude, able to collaborate with editors, authors and global communications colleagues.
