Semiconductor Equipment Engineer

About the role

QuantWare is scaling its quantum processor manufacturing and needs an engineer to bring new semiconductor equipment online quickly and keep it running reliably. You will work in a small, high‑ownership team handling high‑vacuum nanofabrication tools, dilution refrigerators and advanced characterization equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end installations with OEMs, including planning, FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ to qualify capacity quickly.
• Own preventive maintenance programmes, define schedules, manage spares and documentation to maximise uptime.
• Drive corrective maintenance through rapid troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and implementation of permanent fixes.
• Support the commissioning of the state‑of‑the‑art cleanroom and nanofab line as part of a multi‑million investment.
• Maintain tight process‑equipment alignment by collaborating with Process Engineering.
• Manage facilities interfaces (gas, vacuum, cryogenic, electrical, cooling water, chemicals, exhaust) and coordinate upgrades as the fab ramps.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting advanced equipment, preferably in commercial cleanrooms.
• Experience with high‑vacuum semiconductor nanofabrication tools (lithography, etching, deposition).
• Familiarity with cryogenic or dilution refrigerator systems is a strong plus.
• Relevant technical degree or equivalent background in instrumentation, electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar.
• Systematic problem‑solver with strong planning and coordination skills, able to work under time pressure in a fast‑moving startup.
• Self‑driven, team‑oriented and capable of operating with minimal oversight.
