Synthetic Data Generation for Dental AI Internship

About the role

This internship focuses on developing a scalable pipeline to generate photorealistic synthetic intra‑oral images and automatic ground‑truth labels from 3D jaw models. The work supports tooth detection, instance segmentation and other oral‑health AI algorithms.

Key responsibilities

• Review 3D/synthetic dental data, rendering and domain‑randomisation methods.
• Build a data‑generation pipeline varying anatomy, camera pose, lighting, materials and oral conditions.
• Export images with masks, depth, normals and tooth labels.
• Train and evaluate tooth detection and identification models and report findings.
• Draft a technical note or paper and present results at a Philips R&D forum.

Required profile

• MSc in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, Physics or Biomedical Engineering.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Good knowledge of deep learning and computer vision using PyTorch.
• Passion for 3D modelling, rendering and synthetic data generation.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

What we offer

• Monthly allowance between €500‑€700 gross.
• Housing compensation up to €300 net.
• Travel compensation up to €192 net.
