Automation Scientist (Immunology, BioTech)

About the role

MAT Research seeks an Automation Scientist with a strong background in immunology and biotechnology to drive automation across R&D and manufacturing. The role focuses on enhancing efficiency, data integrity, and product quality through advanced robotic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement automation strategies for both research and production environments.
• Design, integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot AutoMATR robotic platforms at client sites.
• Develop and optimise automation assays, including ELISA, and ensure compliance with GMP/GLP standards.
• Provide training on laboratory automation techniques to internal teams and external customers.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and data integrity for all automated processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with at least 2 years post‑graduate experience in robotics, biochemistry, biotechnology or related fields.
• Living in the Netherlands near Leiden or able to relocate quickly.
• Experience working in GMP/GLP or ISO‑9001 environments is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with liquid handling systems and robotic platforms.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting (Python, R) and data‑science tools (SQL/No‑SQL, AWS, Docker).
• Expertise in assay development and execution (ELISA, flow cytometry, PBMC isolation).
• Strong data analysis capabilities and familiarity with modern quality‑management systems.
