Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

As a Cyber Security Engineer at Damen Naval you will develop secure cyber designs for frigates, supporting the full project lifecycle and ensuring delivery to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop specifications, functional descriptions, schematic drawings and security concepts.
• Participate in expert discussions on IT, OT, emission and physical security.
• Contribute to test and verification plans for security measures.
• Take part in design checks and reviews to meet cybersecurity standards.
• Verify technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
• Analyze offers in cooperation with the Purchase department.
• Ensure compliance with class and customer requirements.
• Work with vendors and subcontractors to obtain timely contributions.
• Support development of the E&A Engineering department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial Automation, IT Systems, Information Security Management or related field.
• Minimum five years experience designing or maintaining complex IT/OT systems, preferably in ships, offshore or industrial settings.
• Experience working with third‑party vendors and subcontractors.
• Good command of German and English (written and verbal).
• Ability to pass security screening.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of networking and IT systems, hardware infrastructure and system hardening.
• Understanding of networking architectures, layers, protocols, cybersecurity concepts, data encryption and radiation safety.
• Familiarity with standards such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
