Field Service Engineer - Marine & Ports Power

About the role

ABB Marine & Ports is looking for a Field Service Engineer to work on vessels, offshore platforms and occasionally in industrial environments. The role focuses on switchboards and electrical distribution, with work ranging from preventive maintenance to complex fault analysis. It is a full-time position (40 hours per week) within a team of 20 Service Engineers, reporting to the Service Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot faults on vessels, offshore platforms and occasionally in industrial settings, from simple breaker issues to complex network failures.
• Maintain and upgrade switchboards and commission new systems, working with specialists on larger projects.
• Perform maintenance on breakers, switchboards and related systems according to schedules and specifications.
• Provide remote support by phone or Microsoft Teams and assist customers on site, coordinating with engineers, subcontractors and customer personnel.
• Prepare technical and service reports and advise customers on maintenance strategies and improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Several years of experience in a technical service role.
• Experience with marine or offshore installations is preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to travel extensively, away from home for a few days to several weeks.
• Excellent verbal and written English; Dutch is beneficial but not required.
• Valid Category B driving licence.
