Forward Deployed Engineer - Public Sector, Nonprofit & Education

About the role

Salesforce is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers in Amsterdam, experienced technical builders who design, build and deploy agentic AI solutions directly inside enterprise customer environments. Working as part of a delivery team with a Deployment Strategist, you co-build solutions that go live in production from day one, covering configuration, customization and full-stack deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design agent intelligence: prompts, reasoning, tool calls and integration with customer systems using the Agentic AI platform and current LLM techniques.
• Own technical components end-to-end, from architecture choice to deployed, validated and observable in production.
• Build and integrate data pipelines on Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks and customer data platforms, and model the data.
• Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting.
• Contribute to proofs-of-concept and MVPs, and co-build with customers and partners.
• Share platform gaps and field insights with senior engineers and the product team.
• Travel approximately 25% of the time, working directly alongside customers.

Required profile

• Fluent English and either Dutch or French; degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years (6-10 years for Senior levels) of software engineering or technical delivery experience, ideally in an AI tech stack, full-stack development or with frontier models.
• Prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services or forward deployed engineering).
• Proven experience delivering projects in Public Sector, Higher Education or Nonprofit environments.
• Hands-on with LLMs and prompt engineering, and able to explain why a prompt fails.
• Willingness to travel about 25% of the time.

Required skills

• Fluency in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Apex.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, APIs and integration patterns.
• Nice to have: Salesforce platform experience or certifications, familiarity with LangChain and LlamaIndex, and hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks or BigQuery.
