Indirect Procurement Advisor

About the role

The Indirect Procurement Advisor will support Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Operational Centre Amsterdam in managing the procurement of goods and services that enable the organisation’s humanitarian mission, but are not directly used in medical programmes. This role focuses on categories such as fundraising, communications, facilities, consultancy, HR, travel, insurance and other corporate services, overseeing an annual spend of around €30 million.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for indirect spend across multiple categories.
• Coordinate with internal departments to consolidate requirements and ensure compliance with MSF procurement policies.
• Identify, evaluate and negotiate with a diverse supplier base to obtain best value and quality.
• Monitor contract performance, manage supplier relationships and resolve any issues that arise.
• Prepare spend analysis reports and provide recommendations for cost optimisation.
• Support the centralisation of indirect procurement processes to reduce decentralised purchasing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in indirect or corporate procurement, preferably within a large, multi‑national organisation.
• Strong understanding of procurement regulations, contract law and ethical sourcing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills to work across departments and senior management.
• Ability to analyse complex spend data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
