Intern – Formulation – Discovery and Technology Research

About the role

Join the Vaccine Formulation team within MSD's Discovery and Technology Research department to develop liposomal formulations for DNA vaccines. You will work on creating and characterising lipid nanoparticles that deliver plasmid DNA encoding antigens.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare liposomal nanoparticle formulations and vary ingredient ratios.
• Characterise particles using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and assess DNA encapsulation efficiency.
• Conduct transfection studies in relevant cell lines and, if applicable, immunological assays.
• Contribute fresh perspectives and share insights with the team.

Required profile

• Last year of Master/Bachelor in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food or Life Sciences.
• Basic understanding of cell biology, cell culture or immunology (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and/or Dutch.
• Availability for at least 6 months, full‑time (5 days/week).

Required skills

• Liposomal nanoparticle formation.
• Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) for particle size analysis.
• DNA encapsulation efficiency measurement.
• Transfection assay execution.
