Operations Assistant

About the role

The Operations Assistant supports the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) activities in the Netherlands, working under the supervision of the Team Manager and Senior Operations Assistant. The role focuses on providing accurate information and operational assistance to migrants, especially those in administrative detention.

Key responsibilities

• Support the full AVRR process, from pre‑departure assistance to post‑arrival reintegration.
• Provide accurate and timely information to migrants and coordinate with partners, governmental authorities and UN agencies.
• Assist with documentation, travel arrangements and data entry for voluntary return cases.
• Conduct field visits to external facilities and ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• School diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields with three years of experience.
• Experience liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies and NGOs, and working with vulnerable migrant groups.
• Fluency in English, Dutch and Arabic (oral and written) and a valid driving licence type B.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard office software, especially MS Office applications.
• Accurate data entry and record‑keeping abilities.
• Valid driving licence type B for field work.
