Physicist (m/f/d) – R&D for Scanning Electron Microscopy

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a highly talented and motivated Physicist (m/f/d) to join its R&D team in Delft, developing next‑generation scanning electron microscopy systems for the semiconductor industry.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and use advanced simulations for research fields such as electron‑beam‑matter interaction, light‑matter interaction, and magnetic/electrostatic phenomena.
• Perform experimental laboratory work in advanced in‑house labs to conduct basic research and translate novel ideas into working technology.
• Leverage a comprehensive multidisciplinary ecosystem integrated within R&D.
• Collaborate with technology‑leading companies worldwide.

Required profile

• PhD in experimental or applied physics (post‑doc advantage).
• Experience in laboratory work and simulations.

Required skills

• High voltage physics research and applications.
• Voltage contrast in electron‑beam applications for the semiconductor industry.
• Semiconductor device physics simulations and design.
• Development of charged particle and X‑ray detectors.
