Tech Lead, Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Tech Lead to drive the design and evolution of scalable backend architectures and distributed data systems for a global SaaS platform. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to solve high‑impact business challenges while ensuring performance, reliability, and security at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of scalable backend architectures, microservices, and high‑performance data solutions.
• Own critical architectural decisions around databases, APIs, asynchronous processing, and system reliability.
• Define technical strategy by prioritising engineering and product challenges aligned with business goals.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and cross‑functional teams to deliver measurable business value.
• Mentor engineers, facilitate alignment and promote strong engineering practices.
• Optimise relational database performance through query tuning, indexing, transaction management and concurrency control.
• Ensure platforms remain efficient, secure, scalable and resilient under production workloads.
• Promote pragmatic decision‑making balancing quality, speed and long‑term maintainability.

Required profile

• Extensive software engineering experience with strong technical leadership in SaaS or distributed‑system environments.
• Advanced expertise in relational databases and SQL, including query optimisation, indexing, transactions and concurrency handling.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture, message queues, microservices, load balancing and asynchronous processing.
• Solid backend engineering background with experience in APIs, system architecture, object‑oriented programming and Node.js/TypeScript.
• Proven ability to influence teams and stakeholders without formal authority.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
