UAV Controls Engineer Internship

About the role

Join fiducial’s fast‑growing deep‑tech start‑up as a UAV Controls Engineer Intern. You will work on cutting‑edge autonomous flight software for defence applications, helping to bring low‑cost, sensor‑driven situational awareness to UAV platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and tune guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for autonomous take‑off, landing and waypoint following.
• Integrate control and navigation modules with perception and state‑estimation systems.
• Use simulation environments (SITL/HIL) to test and validate flight‑control behaviour before hardware deployment.
• Review flight logs and telemetry to assess performance and diagnose issues.
• Support hardware and flight‑test teams in configuring and calibrating UAV platforms.
• Assist in flight‑test campaigns, including setup, monitoring and post‑flight data analysis.
• Improve internal tools for simulation, control diagnostics and flight visualisation.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a relevant engineering or computer‑science degree (Aerospace, Robotics, Computer Vision, etc.).
• Strong interest in UAV systems, autonomous flight and control theory.
• Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience with GNC algorithm development.
• Familiarity with simulation environments such as SITL or HIL.
• Ability to analyse flight logs and telemetry data.
• Basic knowledge of UAV hardware integration and calibration.
