Category Purchaser – International Procurement

About the role

The Category Purchaser is part of the Supply Chain department within Damen Workboats. You will be responsible for procuring essential components such as engines, systems, windows and valves for the production of workboats at shipyards in Vietnam, Turkey, China and the United Arab Emirates.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate purchasing processes and ensure timely delivery of materials for vessel production.
• Enhance supplier performance through development initiatives and monitor KPIs such as on‑time delivery and quality.
• Identify supply‑chain risks early, escalating disruptions when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records in the ERP system and keep administrative data up to date.
• Contribute to global supply‑chain improvement programmes.
• Align purchasing activities with Material Planning and international shipyards to support smooth operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in international procurement or supply‑chain roles, preferably in a process‑driven industry.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch (mandatory) and English.
• Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of SAP is a plus.
• Proactive, hands‑on mentality with a service‑oriented attitude.
