Director of Engineering

About the role

Scale our engineering power without losing our edge – shape the future of advanced radar technology. As Director of Engineering you will lead the operational transformation and rapid scale‑up of our largest division, co‑owning the engineering strategy with the CTO.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the annual Engineering Business Plan, drive release targets and manage R&D OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Co‑own the technology roadmap with the CTO and translate it into operational goals, expanding the team from 100 to 200+ FTEs.
• Direct and empower heads of Software, Hardware, RF, System Engineering and SVVT, guiding quarterly operational horizons.
• Oversee multi‑disciplinary programs that combine hardware, embedded software, micro‑Doppler AI and signal processing.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to design large‑scale recruitment strategies and foster continuous learning.
• Report division health, program risks and milestones to the Board and nurture partnerships with European research institutes.

Required profile

• 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership, including 5+ years in a senior executive role.
• Proven experience scaling complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering divisions and managing multi‑million R&D budgets.
• Strong background in combined hardware and software environments, especially RF, radar systems and AI.
• Deep expertise in Systems Engineering, V‑model/Agile hybrid governance and KPI management.
• Exceptional track record in recruiting, developing and retaining large technical teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English; based in The Hague with occasional travel.
