Finance Assistant (UN G-5 level) – Amsterdam

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the Treasury Assistant and Assistant Accountant in financial management, treasury operations and administrative processes at the Common Fund for Commodities in Amsterdam. The role contributes to cash management, donor‑compliant execution, accurate reporting and internal controls, under the supervision of the Head of Accounting and Administration.

Key responsibilities

• Process payment orders and reconcile bank and credit‑card statements.
• Support cash‑forecast monitoring and funding requirements for externally funded activities.
• Maintain records of loans, trade finance and project payments, and prepare related invoices and schedules.
• Assist with accounting system (AFAS PROFIT) maintenance, basic account reconciliations and payroll inputs.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits and support donor reporting.
• Leverage AI‑enabled tools to automate routine financial and administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Secondary education plus a professional accounting qualification.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in finance, treasury or accounting.
• Knowledge of IFRS 7 and IFRS 9 as adopted by the EU.
• Familiarity with AFAS PROFIT or similar accounting software.
• Strong command of written and spoken English; Dutch is an advantage.
• Experience in multi‑currency environments and AML/CTF compliance is a plus.
