Industrial Design Engineer – Architectural Systems

About the role

We are looking for an Industrial Design Engineer who thrives in the full cycle of making, testing, and refining prototypes. You will split your time between digital modelling and hands‑on bench work, turning concepts into functional products and iterating until they meet design and manufacturing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Take products from concept to working prototype – sketch, model, build, test, and repeat.
• Design systems and products in sheet metal, recycled plastic, and novel materials, balancing aesthetics with manufacturability.
• Build prototypes and mock‑ups, then evaluate their performance.
• Program CNC machinery and optimise fabrication methods for maximum efficiency.
• Create detailed 3D models, production files, bills of materials and fabrication documentation.
• Source hardware, tooling and materials required for each project.

Required profile

• Completed HBO/bachelor’s degree in industrial design, product design, engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 (experience with Autodesk Inventor or OnShape is a plus).
• Willingness to work onsite in Amsterdam or relocate there.
• Valid work permit and residency in the Netherlands – no sponsorship available.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD skills with Rhino, SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
• Hands‑on experience operating and programming CNC machinery.
• 3D modelling, production file creation and BOM generation.
• Ability to produce detailed fabrication documentation.
