Programme Officer, Awards Management Team (Africa)

About the role

The Awards Management Team (AMT) Programme Officer supports strategic, high-quality programming within the AMT structure in Africa, overseeing a portfolio of institutional and private donor awards. The officer works closely with country teams and fundraising teams to manage current awards and support new business opportunities. The position is based in The Hague (Netherlands preferred) or the UK, with flexible working, and is full-time, exempt and regular.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the award portfolio to ensure compliance with donor requirements, monitor award health and guide country teams on reporting and prior approvals
• Act as main point of contact for institutional donor compliance and support Relationship Managers with private donor communications
• Review and manage submissions of institutional and private donor reports, and facilitate award agreement reviews and negotiations
• Prepare award kick-off and closeout tools and give training to country teams on award management and compliance
• Review draft proposals, coordinate submissions and support proposal writing, including drafting annexes and copy-editing
• Serve as HQ focal point for donor communications and represent regional and country interests with external stakeholders
• Maintain award records in internal knowledge systems and keep records according to retention policy

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in international relief and development, including grant management and compliance; field experience in Africa highly desirable
• Experience with proposal development and with donors such as US and UK governments, ECHO, European Commission and private foundations
• Fluency in written and spoken English and proficiency in French

Required skills

• MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Monitoring and evaluation experience preferred

• Salary commensurate with experience: UK starting £37,040, NL starting 44,320 euros
• 5% of working time set aside for learning
• Up to 10% travel to country programmes, including to insecure locations
