Python Developer with VBA Skills (Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python Developer with strong VBA expertise to join our team on a freelance basis. The role involves creating web‑based solutions, automating data workflows, and supporting the migration of legacy Access applications to modern platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop web solutions and scripts using Python.
• Write and debug complex VBA solutions in Microsoft Access.
• Assist in migrating Access‑based applications to SQL Server and other technologies.
• Perform ETL operations on large and complex datasets.
• Create visualisations and dashboards with Power BI.
• Collaborate with technical teams to deploy new features and changes to production.
• Maintain technical documentation for implemented solutions.
• Ensure secure coding practices, including logging and auditing.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T‑SQL, SSIS, schema design, stored procedures, performance tuning).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and web‑development frameworks.
• Strong VBA skills for Excel and Access, including automation scripting.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T‑SQL, SSIS, and database optimisation.
• Experience with Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboards).
• ETL expertise using SSIS, Power Query, Neo4j import utilities.
• Version control with Git and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of application security concepts such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
