Senior IP Counsel – Audio/Video Technologies

About the role

The Philips Intellectual Property & Standards Department (IP&S) helps develop and manage IP worldwide. As a Senior IP Counsel in the General Licensing team, you will create maximum value from Philips’ IP portfolio through licensing, strategy, and support for collaborations and litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate invention disclosures to provide optimal protection and long‑term value.
• Prepare, file, and prosecute high‑quality patent applications meeting international standards.
• Maintain an active docket of patent prosecutions.
• Support infringement and validity analysis, including claim‑chart mapping to technical standards.
• Analyze third‑party patents in relevant audio/video technology domains.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering or physics with expertise in audio/video technologies such as standard codecs and compression (AAC, AVC, HEVC, VVC).
• Qualified European patent attorney who has passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE).
• At least 5 years of experience in IP drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, counseling, and IP licensing or litigation.
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills in English.

What we offer

• Base salary range €93,000 – €155,000 per year.
