Strategic Account Director, EU Trade & Customs

About the role

Altana is looking for a Strategic Account Director to lead growth across European customs and trade. Based in Amsterdam, you will shape strategy, build senior‑level relationships and position Altana as the partner of choice for governments across the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Own Altana's growth strategy for EU customs and trade, translating it into a concrete plan and targeting high‑value accounts across member states, EU institutions and key partners.
• Shape new opportunities by communicating Altana’s value to senior government and industry stakeholders and partnering with them on transformation initiatives.
• Pursue complex, large‑scale government opportunities, building a pipeline that reflects strategic vision rather than a quota.
• Develop relationships across customs authorities, economic‑security bodies and industry partners from operational to strategic levels.
• Partner closely with the VP of Strategic Business Development, Government Affairs and executive leadership to align strategy and execution.

Required profile

• Significant experience in business development and complex solution sales for public‑sector customers, with a track record of opening markets and shaping large strategic deals.
• Familiarity with customs, trade or economic‑security practices and an existing network across European governments.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages such as Dutch or French are a strong plus.
• Excellent judgment and communication skills, able to engage senior stakeholders independently and translate complex value into clear cases.
