Device Metrology Tool Development Lead

About the role

The Device Metrology Tool Development Lead will drive the creation of scalable metrology methods and automated tooling for high‑throughput screening of quantum devices. Reporting to the R&D program, you will combine project management with deep technical oversight to take the tool from concept through to deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and manage the critical path, prioritise tasks, and ensure focused progress across the project.
• Synthesise inputs from design, fabrication and measurement teams to make system‑level trade‑offs and validate experimental strategies.
• Lead the technical project team day‑to‑day, coordinating cross‑functional efforts and balancing scientific rigor with milestone‑driven delivery.
• Anticipate technical risks, engineering bottlenecks and resource constraints, and adapt plans as new data emerge.
• Act as the primary technical interface for external development partners and collaborators.

Required profile

• 4+ years experience as a project lead, systems engineer or technical program manager in deep‑tech (quantum computing, semiconductor metrology, aerospace, etc.).
• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Broad understanding of the R&D lifecycle with exposure to chip characterization, RF/microwave engineering or cryogenic systems.
• Proactive leadership style, comfortable with ambiguity and decisive project decisions.
• Clear, pragmatic communicator focused on delivering results.
