Engineering Manager – Lead Cross‑Functional Squads

About the role

Fastned is expanding its European EV charging network and needs an Engineering Manager to guide two cross‑functional squads – the Fastned App and Payments & Revenue. You will nurture talent, shape team culture and help scale reliable, sustainable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Coach engineers of all seniorities, create individual development plans and deliver continuous feedback.
• Foster an inclusive environment where team members feel safe to experiment and raise concerns.
• Define and evolve squad workflows (Scrum, Kanban or hybrid) to match team context.
• Remove impediments, protect teams from distractions, and ensure focus on high‑quality delivery.
• Drive excellence in code quality, observability, incident response and delivery pace.
• Use metrics such as cycle time, team health and reliability indicators to identify bottlenecks and guide improvement.
• Collaborate with Head of Engineering and other managers on hiring, technology adoption and security as the organization scales.

• Proven people‑focused leadership experience in software engineering teams.
• Ability to build diverse, high‑performing teams and mentor engineers at every career stage.
• Strong communication skills and a track record of creating safe, feedback‑rich cultures.
• Experience shaping agile processes and driving continuous improvement.
