Lead Data Engineer

About the role

Stream is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to own and evolve its data platform that powers revenue operations and product decisions. Based in Amsterdam, you will be the technical owner of pipelines, integrations and the central repository that brings together data from multiple go‑to‑market systems. You will shape the architecture as the company migrates to Google Cloud Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain ingestion pipelines using Python/dltHub that load data from Salesforce, Stripe, Postgres, PostHog and other GTM sources into BigQuery.
• Develop and manage the transformation layer with SQLMesh models, ensuring clean, well‑tested dimensional models and accurate business metrics such as revenue waterfall and marketing attribution.
• Improve data reliability by adding quality checks, freshness monitoring, reconciliation tests and leading incident response for stale or incorrect data.
• Own platform infrastructure on GCP, including BigQuery, IAM, service accounts, Terraform configurations and CI/CD workflows.
• Provide trusted datasets to Looker Studio, Google Sheets and internal CRM, and implement reverse ETL back to operational systems.
• Define engineering standards, review changes and mentor engineers and analysts contributing to the platform.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production data platforms.
• Hands‑on expertise in Python and SQL, with strong data modeling and dimensional design skills.
• Proven ability to lead technically through architecture, code reviews and mentoring without formal management title.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, small‑team environment and delivering end‑to‑end solutions.
