Payment Terminal Certification Expert (L2)

About the role

Adyen is looking for a Payment Terminal Certification Expert (L2) to own the end‑to‑end certification of its in‑house L2 payment kernels. The role sits between external certification labs and the engineering teams, ensuring that kernels meet EMVCo type‑approval and scheme requirements for contact and contactless transactions.

Key responsibilities

You will prepare and execute Level 2 kernel certification, manage the certification calendar, coordinate type‑approval testing with external labs, analyse test results and translate findings into actionable reports for developers. When tests fail, you will investigate at the APDU and transaction‑flow level, identify root causes and guide developers to fixes. You will also maintain relationships with certification labs and payment schemes, and keep the certification timeline visible to all stakeholders.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience performing Level 2 certifications for contact and contactless kernels.
• Strong knowledge of EMVCo specifications, terminal application flow, CVM processing and cryptogram generation.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical failures into clear actions for engineers and to interact with external labs and payment schemes.
• Result‑oriented mindset with ability to plan backwards from hard external dates and keep stakeholders aligned.
• Detail‑oriented and proactive in spotting problems before they escalate.
