Financial Controller Working Student (Finance)

About the role

We are looking for a Finance‑focused Working Student to support our Financial Controller in Utrecht. The role runs for at least six months, 24‑32 hours per week, and combines daily accounting tasks with month‑end reporting and audit assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with monthly financial reporting, including schedules, balance‑sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Perform daily accounting activities such as transaction processing, bookkeeping, invoice handling and related administrative tasks.
• Support actual‑vs‑budget analysis and ad‑hoc financial analysis.
• Help during the annual audit by rolling forward working papers, preparing sample documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Maintain accurate books and clean documentation to ensure smooth month‑end processes.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field (or pursuing ACCA/CIMA).
• Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping or financial administration through internships or student jobs.
• Comfortable with daily bookkeeping tasks and eager to gain exposure to reporting and audit work.
• Organised, reliable and able to work closely under the direction of a Financial Controller.
• Strong communication skills in English.

• Excel (formulas, pivot tables).
• General accounting software.
