About the role
The Office of the Prosecutor at the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals seeks a motivated Legal Intern to support its Core, Appeals/Legal Advisory, and Category II teams in The Hague. This internship offers exposure to international criminal law, war‑crimes investigations, and capacity‑building initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and factual analysis on international humanitarian and criminal law issues.
- Draft assistance letters, legal memoranda, and other litigation‑related documents.
- Perform cite‑checking and compile relevant case materials.
- Support the preparation of reports for national authorities and the Mechanism’s internal use.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or having completed the final year of a law degree (bachelor’s or master’s level) or equivalent.
- Strong drafting and oral communication abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information.
- Fluency in English; working knowledge of French, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian or Kinyarwanda is desirable.
Required skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications.
