Payroll Specialist – Netherlands

About the role

Oyster is looking for a Payroll Specialist to own the end‑to‑end Dutch payroll process. Based in the EMEA region, you will ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll for our Netherlands customers while contributing to best‑in‑class payroll standards at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Process the native Dutch payroll cycle in‑house each period, ensuring accuracy, compliance and on‑time delivery.
• Maintain master data – new hires, terminations, salary changes, benefits, absences and garnishments – and flag any inconsistencies.
• Run pre‑ and post‑payroll validations, handle statutory filings (loonbeslag, loonaangifte, UWV declarations, jaarloonopgaaf) and manage government accesses.
• Support system updates, test legislative changes and provide data for internal and external audits.
• Respond to client payroll tickets, prepare statutory and ad‑hoc reports, and assist with EU Pay Transparency Directive requirements.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of hands‑on Dutch payroll processing (AFAS, Nmbrs or Loket.nl).
• Completed Praktijkdiploma Loonadministratie (PDL) and/or NIRPA Register Salarisadministrateur (RSa) registration.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch wage tax, social insurance and labour law, with Dutch language proficiency at C1/C2.
• Fluent English and a customer‑first mindset, able to work independently in a remote‑first environment.
